On what intrigued him about New Mexico:

“My (high school) coach told me about it so I looked into it and it was a good program. I could see myself doing really good in this program.”

On what he anticipates his role being:

“Mainly being a role player, rebounder, getting all the loose balls and just being a scrappy player. I’m just going to play hard, man.”

On how his transition from high school to college ball has been:

“Well, in high school I wouldn’t really consider myself a star, but I was able to take more shots.”

“The transition is not as hard as I thought it would be, because most of my life I have been mainly a role player and this is pretty much just amplifying my position.”

On his impressions of the Lobo Howl:

“It was a really fun experience. It was nice to see all the fans coming out just to support us. I was able to show them what I’ve got and how good the team is and show just how good we are going to be this year.”

On his thoughts of the Mountain West Conference:

“I have just been worrying about how where our team is and how good we are going to do during the season.”

Devon Williams is a very lengthy guard (6’7”, 200lbs) who played a lot of power forward in high school. He has a similar build to Tony Snell, and like Tony, he has really bought into the system and appears to be very unselfish. With a four-guard lineup, Williams can see some playing time, but with the depth and experience in front of him getting several minutes per game doesn’t seem very likely early in the season. Throughout the practices I’ve attended, Devon has shown great athleticism and a nice perimeter jump shot.
